Euro Murals

Whilst on a recent trip to Central Europe I visited some really stunning little towns.
What struck me is how much they valued their architecture and the presentation of their homes, shops, cafes and bars; both new and old.

Many of the buildings had wonderful typographical signage or just the most intricate and incredible murals. This seemed to be the trend everywhere we visited, from southern Germany across to Switzerland (with Austria and Liechtenstein inbetween!).

Oh, and some weren't so pretty ...
Tut tut.

Have a look at my Flickr account to see a few more.

Tiny Paper Crane

Look what I made!

I make a lot of origami paper cranes. I have always been fascinated by the Japanese theory that by making 1000 cranes in your lifetime you will be granted a single wish (apparently by a crane) and add to this their simplistic beauty. My first one was called Steven and was made in an attempt to win over a young lady - it worked by the way!
In response to a page 3 article in the 'newspaper' Metro (basically toilet paper available for free on UK public transport) about a woman from China who makes tiny origami, I decided to prove that not only can an origami paper crane be folded smaller than that claimed but in less time (they take me around 10 minutes to her 20 minutes) and with only my bare hands (not tweezers as this woman allegedly uses).

So far the smallest I have made measures 3mm in body height - 1mm smaller.

Only 999 more and maybe I will be granted a tiny wish.

A monogram favourite

Interesting to find my personal monogram logo featured on a fellow designers blog...

Andrew Keir

(As an aside, contrary to the caption, the "JK" monogram was not designed by me!)
